Client Stories | Cynthia Attard
“The ability to make informed decisions based on real-time data has transformed how we handle cases.”
“CloudLex’s simplicity and
comprehensive features made it the
best fit,” says Cynthia Attard.
Facing the challenges of an outdated system and a growing trend toward digital platforms, Cynthia Attard knew she needed a reliable case management program like CloudLex to streamline operations and handle her growing caseload.
Cynthia Attard’s path to becoming the Managing Trial Attorney at Ikhilov & Associates is anything but linear. From practicing tax law to serving as a police officer in Nassau County, her journey is defined by a relentless commitment to justice. “When I got out of law school, I thought I was going to be a great corporate attorney and I went into tax law,” Cynthia recalls. However, the repetitive nature of corporate law couldn’t satisfy her desire for impactful work. “It was very dry to me. Each day was the same,” Cynthia admits.
Seeking a more meaningful career, Cynthia transitioned from law to policing and then back to law—a decision influenced by her role as a mother of four. “Being a mom of four kids, I needed a career that allowed me to balance work and family,” she explains. “That’s when I decided to go into personal injury law.”
“It’s not always about what you learn, but who you know.”
Reflecting on her early career, Cynthia describes the invaluable lessons she learned. “I learned every possible dark side to personal injury law that you can imagine. It taught me it’s not always about what you learn, but who you know,” she shares. A pivotal moment came early in her career during a function where a judge advised her, “You could always tell a new trial attorney when they walk in the door, but after you’ve done it once, you’re an expert.”
Championing
Justice Through
Expertise
Her background as a police officer has given her a significant edge, particularly in personal injury cases. “Personal injury is predominantly based on police reports,” Cynthia explains.
Her knowledge proved useful in a recent case involving a firefighter. “He was surprised by my knowledge about the administrative guidelines, only stuff you learn while you’re on the street,” she says.
Cynthia’s career is marked by numerous challenging and impactful cases. One notable experience was defending a complex family dispute in Queens County. “It was a single car accident where the daughter sued her mother after she fell asleep at the wheel,” she recounts. Cynthia had the unique challenge of navigating familial tensions and legal intricacies, where even the expert witness she was given turned out to be unprepared. “He told the court he wasn’t an expert and that he referred patients to the same doctor who treated my client. It was a bizarre experience,” she recalls.
Transforming a PI
Practice with Innovation
Through the trials of COVID-19 and the broader trend toward digital advancement, embracing technology has been crucial to Cynthia’s success, particularly through her adoption of CloudLex: a comprehensive legal case management platform
designed exclusively for personal injury law firms.
CloudLex has proven to be a beneficial asset, streamlining case management and enhancing communication with clients. “Before CloudLex, we had a Windows-based system with no real calendaring. It was disorganized and filled with potential for human error,” Cynthia explains.
With CloudLex, the transformation has been profound. “The transparency that CloudLex offers has been a game-changer,” Cynthia says. The platform allows her to manage cases efficiently, ensuring clients are updated at every stage of the litigation process. She cites a particularly
complex case involving multiple parties, where CloudLex helped keep all communications, documents, and deadlines organized. “It’s like having an extra team member,” she notes.

Cynthia’s ability to advocate for her clients has been empowered by CloudLex’s innovative tools. “The ability to make informed decisions based on real-time data has transformed how we handle cases,” she asserts. The switch to CloudLex involved a thorough review of options. “We looked at a number of different platforms, but CloudLex’s simplicity and comprehensive features made it the best fit,” she reveals.
CloudLex has also aided in training younger staff who may not have extensive legal experience. “The program has to work for them and think for them to an extent, especially if they’re pre-litigation paralegals focused on medical information rather than legal terminology,” Cynthia emphasizes.
For Cynthia, technology is not just a tool but an enabler of her mission to provide top-notch legal representation. “Our success is limitless with a program that works for us like CloudLex does.”
